Job Summary
We are seeking a seasoned and detail-oriented Tax & Accounting Professional to join our team. The ideal candidate is a skilled professional who excels at managing all aspects of a client’s financial needs, from tax preparation to bookkeeping and CRA communications. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a small-team environment and wants to build lasting relationships with a dedicated client base.
Core Responsibilities
As our new tax professional, you will manage and interpret financial data to help our clients maintain and grow their financial health. Your main responsibilities include:
Tax Preparation & Filing: Accurately prepare and file personal (T1), corporate (T2), and trust (T3) tax returns in a timely manner.
CRA Communications: Serve as a key point of contact for the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), expertly managing correspondence and resolving client matters.
Full-Cycle Bookkeeping: Accurately record, classify, and summarize financial transactions for a variety of clients.
Financial Reporting: Prepare essential financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Account Reconciliation: Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Payroll & Sales Tax: Manage payroll processing and ensure timely filing of sales tax (GST/HST) and other applicable taxes.
Data Analysis & Client Advisory: Analyze financial data to identify trends, assess performance, and provide clients with valuable insights.
Compliance: Ensure all financial activities adhere to relevant accounting standards (ASPE), company policies, and legal regulations.
Client Communication: Clearly and professionally explain complex financial information to clients, fostering trust and understanding.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
Minimum 2 years of professional experience in preparing Canadian personal and corporate tax returns.
Minimum 2 years of experience using professional taxation software (e.g., Taxprep, Profile, Dr. Tax).
Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with QuickBooks Desktop and/or QuickBooks Online.
Proven experience managing communications with the CRA.
A solid understanding of full-cycle bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and payroll.
Assets (Preferred but not required):
Experience with Sage accounting software.
A professional designation (e.g., PCP, CPB) or actively working towards one.
Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field.
